What’s On in March 2020

Spring is here and the clocks finally go forward which means brighter evenings and we love that! There’s an array of events happening in Liverpool this March, so if you’re into superheros, gin or you’re Irish then keep reading.

Comic Con Liverpool: 6-8th March

Comic Con returns for another event at Exhibition Centre Liverpool this March. This year attendees are in luck as there will be many exciting guests who have never attended a UK convention before. The line up includes Jason David Frank from the Power Rangers, John Challis from Only Fools & Horses, Caroline Rhea from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Frank Walker from the Transformers.

Expect plenty of fun as there will be many attractions, such as tabletop gaming, console gaming area, VR podz, breakout escape rooms and much much more! The weekend promises to be fun-filled, action-packed adventure for all Sci-Fi lovers, cosplayers, Anime fanatics and comic book enthusiasts.

Liverpool Gin Party: 7th March

St George’s Hall are hosting a Gin Party this March. Guests can expect a real party atmosphere with live music and magicians putting on a show. There will be 25 different boutique gins available to enjoy. You will be given your very own gin glass upon arrival that you can use throughout the festival and take home.

Don’t worry about drinking on an empty stomach as there will be hot food and sharing platters available to purchase throughout the day from local caterers. If you want to bring friends who aren’t so keen on gin as you are, that’s fine as there will be a small selection of wine, prosecco, a draught Budvar and soft drinks on offer too.

Our Sir Thomas Street apartments are less than a 10 minute walk to St George’s Hall. Why not upgrade your stay to the two bedroom penthouse with views across the city.

St Patrick’s Day

Parade: 17th March

As usual, a parade will take place in Liverpool city centre to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. The event will include four marching bands, which will assemble at the old Irish centre on Mount Pleasant.

Baltic Market: 12-15th March

The Baltic Market are hosting a St Patrick’s Day weekender on 12-15th March. They are inviting everyone to come and drink the bar dry! The event promises plenty of Guinness to go around as they will be taking over the bar, as well as Hop House 13 Lager. If that’s not enough, there will be a pop-up Irish whiskey bar.

Baltic Market is famous for its food, so of course there will be some amazing food on offer that weekend. From wood fired pizzas to halloumi fries, there will be something for everyone. To get everyone dancing, there will be several local live bands playing traditional Irish songs.

No tickets are sold in advance as entry will be on the door. Entry will be £3 on Friday, £5 on Saturday and free on Thursday and Sunday.

Bongo’s Bingo: 13-21st March

If you’ve never been to Bongo’s Bingo, then you are seriously missing out! It’s a game of bingo like no other, where you can win all kind of prizes. Just like previous years, Bongo’s Bingo will be participating in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations with a 5-day Irish special event.

This year’s special guest will be Irish singer and actress, Nadine Coyle, most famous for being part of Girls Aloud. Nadine will be performing Girls Aloud classics during the show, so get ready for some major sing-alongs.

Coming along to the party? We have apartments available at The Docks, which is only a 15 minute walk to Content, where the crazy event is held.

Disney on Ice: 26-29th March

Get ready for a magical adventure full of courageous tales from across the kingdom in Disney On Ice presents Magical Ice Festival at the M&S Bank Arena. Join fearless Moana and the greatest demigod that ever lived, Maui, on an action-packed adventure to return the stolen heart of Te Fiti. Frozen royal sisters Anna and Elsa, the very humorous Olaf, and not forgetting Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven will join in on the journey.

There will be a show-stopping performance by Sebastian in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. If that’s not enough princess’s, you’ll also be joined by Rapunzel from Tangled and Beauty and the Beast. 🐣

Liverpool FC Legends vs Barca Legends Football Match: 28th March

For the fourth year running Liverpool Football Club’s official charity, Liverpool FC Foundation will host its legends charity match at Anfield. The Liverpool FC Legends will take on the greats from Spanish giants Barca Legends in aid of the LFC Foundation.

An all star line up has been confirmed for Liverpool, including for the first time back playing at Anfield; Fernando Torres, Jose Enrique, and Fabio Aurelio. Luis Garcia, Patrik Berger, Jerzy Dudek, Jason McAteer and Vladimir Smicer are also confirmed to return to the Legends team.

Barca Legends side will also have an excellent team, featuring stars Patrick Kluivert, Juliano Belletti and Javier Saviola.

We Will Rock You: 30th March – 4th April

The worldwide smash hit musical, We Will Rock You, returns to Liverpool Empire Theatre this March. If you’re into your musical then this one is not to be missed. The multi-million pound show by Queen and Ben Elton promises to dazzle all the senses in breath-taking style.

Since 2002 over 16 million people in 19 countries have enjoyed this thrilling show. Including 24 of Queen’s biggest hits, the show boasts the scale and spectacle that marked the bands legendary live performances. Some of Queen’s greatest hits include Radio Ga Ga, Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You.
